Someone to Miss

In determining a path of future I admit that I look for someone to miss
When the clock ticks into the New Year I would like just one to kiss
When I come home I seek to see
When I am away I need the feelings inside of me

I look for a compliment behind life's colorful door
A simple stare of adore
I accept not the alone
As I sit upon my throne

If I am king than you shall be queen
We can travel the universe and the stars and what lies in between
When the clocks tick into the new years
When the joys bring such sweet tears

Yiorgos' Bio

Yiorgos’ delicately rendered graphite drawings reflect the sublime stoicism of Greek architecture. A Greek American, Yiorgos grew up hearing stories about his family’s years in Greece and their struggles during World War II. He became fascinated with his heritage, traveling to Santorini, Mykonos, The Cyclades and other Greek locales and observing them carefully. Based on photographs he has taken, Yiorgos’ black and white drawings are triumphant as they depict empty streets, white-washed walls, and uninterrupted expanses of sky or sea. Despite the absence of figures or other direct signs of daily life, the drawings reverberate with the liveliness of Greek history. The colorless quietude in Yiorgos’ scenes is open-ended, inviting viewers to imagine the vibrant colors and activity that shaped them. The extreme detail with which Yiorgos draws captures the nuances of Mediterranean landscape while also imbuing it with a nostalgic splendor. Born in Asbury Park, Yiorgos lives and works in Long Branch, New Jersey.
